Inside ETV Endowment

Choose your own adventure!

Every MASTERPIECE fan, mystery lover or serial podcast listener knows a happy ending is enormously satisfying. A good season finale wraps up the struggles of earlier episodes, highlights important thematic threads and evokes a feeling of well-earned peace, resolution and security…at least on some level.

Unfortunately, it is estimated that more 70% of Americans do not have an up-to-date estate plan, which can leave your assets, good intentions and the well-being of the characters in your own life story to the mercy of chance. Since this is not the type of drama anyone needs, the ETV Endowment is continuing our commitment, along with many other public media stations, to raise awareness about the importance of estate planning to protect yourself and your loved ones, no matter your age or financial status.

This month the ETV Endowment announced a new member benefit – FREE access to create a will and develop other estate plans – through the online service Giving Docs. This platform is free to our cherished members and supporters so you may conveniently write or edit your intentions for your loved ones, your wealth and the meaningful institutions in your life – and so provide the memoir of what matters to you with your estate plans.

Giving Docs is committed to protecting donors’ privacy. Giving Docs will never sell or rent names or personal information to anyone else. Giving Docs successfully completed the AICPA Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type 2 audit, ensuring the highest level of privacy security. In addition to creating or updating your will, you may use the Giving Docs platform to complete codicils, beneficiary designations, financial power of attorney and medical directives.

Creating an online will may not be the right fit for you, but it just might get you started with your planning process. As with all estate planning, we encourage you to consult with an attorney or financial planner. There are many paths to plot out the resolution and feeling of meaning, security and peace that a good estate plan provides, and we’re here to help!

Still have questions? Please feel free to contact me at 877-253-2092. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about our partnership with Giving Docs and for supporting the exceptional programs on SCETV and South Carolina Public Radio!
